MEDICARE FAQ

Medicare Questions, Made Simple.

Medicare can come with a lot of questions. Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.

What is Medicare?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people age 65 and older, as well as certain people under 65 who qualify because of a disability or other circumstances.
When should I enroll in Medicare?
Your initial Medicare enrollment period generally begins three months before you turn 65 and ends three months after the month you turn 65. Your situation may be different if you are working past 65 or qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
What is the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?
Original Medicare includes Part A and Part B and is administered by the federal government. Medicare Advantage, also known as Part C, is offered by private insurance companies and combines Part A and Part B coverage. Many Medicare Advantage plans also include prescription drug coverage and may offer additional benefits.
What is Medicare Supplement insurance?
Medicare Supplement insurance, also called Medigap, is designed to help pay certain out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare does not fully cover. Medigap plans work alongside Original Medicare and are different from Medicare Advantage plans.
Do I need Medicare Part D?
Part D helps cover prescription medications. Whether you need a separate Part D plan depends on the type of Medicare coverage you choose and whether prescription drug coverage is already included.
Can I change my Medicare plan?
Depending on your circumstances, there may be specific periods when you can change your Medicare coverage. The options available to you can depend on factors such as your current coverage, eligibility, and the time of year.
Can you help me compare Medicare plan options?
Yes. We can help you understand the differences between available Medicare options, including benefits, costs, provider networks, and prescription drug coverage, so you can make a more informed decision.
Does it cost anything to speak with an agent?
There is generally no cost to you for our assistance in reviewing Medicare plan options. We are compensated by insurance carriers when applicable, so you can speak with us without paying a consultation fee.
What information should I have for a Medicare plan review?
It can be helpful to have information about your doctors, prescriptions, current Medicare coverage, preferred pharmacies, and healthcare priorities. Having this information available can make it easier to review your options.
Can you help if I am already enrolled in Medicare?
Absolutely. Medicare planning does not end when you first enroll. We can help you review your current coverage and understand whether other available options may better fit your needs.
